Colorado has some wonderful ski resorts that can accommodate the needs of any type of group. I wanted to share my opinion of which ski resorts best fit some of the most common types of travel parties.
Adult-only Travel:
If you are looking to get away on an adult-only escape, my top ski resort recommendations would be Aspen, Vail, and Beaver Creek. These three resorts are more luxurious and upscale than other resorts. They can offer spectacular skiing during the day and fine dining in the evening. There is high-end shopping throughout the town. While children are certainly welcome at these resorts, the feel and atmosphere of all three is more refined.
Families (who all ski or snowboard):
If you will be heading out on a family ski vacation, my favorite family friendly resorts would have to be Breckenridge, Keystone, and Winter Park. Each of these offer a more laid back feel. Breckenridge and Keystone offer some other activities for kids if they need a little break from skiing like play areas or ice skating. There are also family friendly restaurants to choose from, making these resorts great options.
Mixed Groups (some skiers and some non-skiers):
My favorite resort for this type of travel party would absolutely be Breckenridge. Breckenridge offers so many alternatives to skiing that everyone could find a fun way to enjoy their vacation. There is great skiing, tons of shopping (both name brand and local), a wide variety of restaurants, and even a fun Children’s Museum for those too young to ski. Another option might be Telluride if the travel party was mainly adults and school-aged children. There is so much history there that it would be fun to spend a day exploring the town in addition to skiing.
