New England is made up of 6 states – Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and my state, Massachusetts. Each state has plenty to offer individually and is worth visiting. I could spend hours detailing why you should visit each of these states and what to do, and even break it down by towns for some. But, let’s talk broader. If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway for all things quintessential New England, here are a few things to consider.
It’s early still, but in a few weeks, the leaves in New England are going to turn gorgeous shades of orange, yellow, red, brown and everything in between. Each state has its own routes, vistas, mountains and valleys to view nature showing off for you. It’s easy to make a day trip out of leaf peeping by making stops along the way to enjoy the endless cute towns and all that they have to offer.Apple Picking:
If there’s one activity New England families never miss in the fall, it’s apple picking! There are so many farms to choose from, and everyone has their favorite. Some care about the apples themselves, some care about the activities (hay rides! Mazes! Petting zoos!) and some care about the apple cider donuts and adult beverages. Either way, time spent apple picking is always fun and so very New England!
Eat, Drink and Be Merry:
New England is full of some of the best restaurants you can imagine, with chefs boasting endless accolades and creative kitchens. What’s more, many chefs love to focus on seasonal foods when cooking. Now’s the perfect time to enjoy a creamy pumpkin soup, a roast chicken packed with fall flavor, or the perfect apple dessert. If you love to eat, there’s a restaurant here that’s perfect for you and your palate.
