Making Disney Magic When You are Stuck at Home

We can all agree that the last few weeks have been anything but normal.  There have been a lot of challenges, both big and small.  Some have easy fixes, like the fact that my whole family misses Disney like crazy!  Even though we didn’t have a trip planned during this time, there’s been an overwhelming feeling like we needed Disney in our lockdown lives. So we’ve found some fun ways to bring Disney into our socially distanced home.

Get Crafty
We’ve found opportunities to make crafts that are Disney themed and make a little kitschy.  Interior design isn’t really important right now, so we’ve been doing various Disney crafts for our home.  We made picado banners for Star Wars Days, Mickey themed birthday banners, Disney letterboards, themed hearts for our front door and even Legos.  It’s been fun to see the magic at every corner of our house.  My son has also enjoyed all of the tutorials on Disney Parks YouTube channel and has learned to draw some of his favorite characters.

Dance (and Sing) Like Nobody’s Watching
The Disney Sing-Alongs are a crucial part of our lockdown life.  We cuddled up to watch them together when they first broadcast and continue to watch them and sing and dance each time.  We also have Disney playlists on Spotify that we play constantly and have even discovered some new songs.  We move our bodies to Disney workouts and dances and find Disney music and magic wherever we can.

Cook and Bake
Perhaps we’ve been inspired by our love of Be Our Chef on Disney+, but we’ve taken to our kitchen and gotten creative with some themed treats.  In addition to coming up with things on our own, we’ve also enjoyed all of the recipes on Disney Parks Blog for real Disney treats (including dole whip)!  If nothing else, it’s easy enough to turn most treats into a Mickey Mouse shape!

Have a Disney Day
My family hasn’t done this yet, but I’ve seen so many creative Disney days.  From riding the rides at home to creating Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, I’ve seen it all.  One of my favorites is a family on a Facebook group I am in is doing themed dinners for each country in Epcot.  It’s been so fun seeing the beautiful food and decorations they’ve come up with for a beautiful family meal!

My family has Disney in our lives every day, but right now it feels more important than ever to be sure the magic is in our home!
