How to Beat the Heat at Walt Disney World

It’s no secret that Florida weather is consistently inconsistent.  It can get really cold (have you seen the falling iguanas!), it can rain, it can even snow! But most of all, it can get HOT.  And humid. And sticky. And kind of unpleasant. But don’t let that deter you from a great time in Walt Disney World.  With a little planning, it’s easy to beat the heat and have a cool time.

Water

If you’ve ever met me, you know that I drink a ton of water.  I’m always lugging around a water bottle with me, no matter where I go!  So it’s no surprise that I make sure to stay hydrated at Disney. Even though it’s one more thing to carry with me, I wouldn’t dream of setting food in a Disney park without water with me for myself and my family.  All restaurants will give you a cup of ice water if you ask, so we make sure to stop at any dining establishment when needed to grab a cold glass.  Drink as much as you need (or more). There are plenty of bathrooms 🙂

Cold Towel

Those towel things that you get wet and keep you cool are magic.  I don’t know what it is that they do, but they work. Grab a few before you head out, or pick one up at the parks (with Mickey on it).  Throw it around your neck, around your head or anywhere else you need cooling off.

Fans

No shame in carrying around a portable fan-in fact, they make ones that are powered by your phone.  We always make sure to attach a rechargeable fan to our stroller to keep the kids cool and charge it at night. Even better are the water bottles with a fan attached!  A great way to keep you cool all day long.

Shows and Breaks

My tips and tricks to avoid meltdowns at the parks apply for keeping cool as well.  Take a break, hit the pool, see a show, take a nap or whatever you can do to get out of the son will work wonders.  A break to recharge and cool off will help keep you going all night!
