Disney Cruise: Mixology Class is a ‘Must Do’

Cruise Planning & Tips

During our recent Disney Cruise Line vacation we planned ahead and signed up for a Mixology class on one of our ‘Sea Days’.  During this class you learn how to make five drinks, many ‘one-of-a-kind’ designed by the bartending staff onboard.  Warning, this is 5 drinks in an hour.  The benefit is you are on vacation, you have nowhere to drive to and hopefully, like my children, your kids like Kids Club!

Our mixology was in Keys (aboard the Disney Wonder).  When we first arrived there were setups in tables of two and four.  There were some ingredients pre-measured and added to the different glasses.  This was an opportunity for us to smell and observe to make predictions about what drinks we might be making.  In case you want to predict – the first glass (we are going to work right to left, starting with the champagne glass) had lemon twist and a shot of something in it.  The second glass had a distinct shot of tequila in it.  The third had limes and simple syrup in it.  The final shot glass had Kaluha.  Our fifth glass is not in in front of us because it was a demonstration drink, we did not get to make it ourselves.

Here is what we made:

  • Lemoncino Sprit
  • Tequila Sunset.  Different from a Tequila sunrise becuase it is made with blackberry brandy.  There reason there are two glasses in front of me is because I volunteered to demonstrate with guidance how to make this drink.  Do this, it makes it more fun!
  • Coconut Mojito. Imagine a mojito made with Coconut Rum instead of regular rum.
  • Washington Apple Martini. I learn by doing, so since this was made for me, I don’t remember what was in this!
  • B-52 or Destroyer.  This has Kahlua, Bailey’s and Grand Marnier.  The trick is to try to pour it slowly so that you have 3 distinct layers.

Check out our gallery of drinks and let me know how you think I did!

This is a unique adult Disney event and different on every cruise.  Sign up once, sign up again!  Make a friend and have fun!
