Disney Cruise Line offers a spectacular vacation experience for adults and families alike. While most things are included in your Disney Cruise package there are a few ‘extras’ to consider when budgeting for your magical cruise vacation.
There are some options available to you while sailing with Disney Cruise Line for an additional cost. Here are my Top 5 items to budget for your Disney Cruise vacation!
- Shore Excursions. While shore excursions are not a requirement to enjoy your cruise they sure do add extra fun at your ports of call. This is especially true if you don’t speak the language or are not knowledgable about the country you are visiting. Most shore excursions run about $50-$175 per person per excursion. Many of these excursions are Disney Cruise exclusive, so take advantage of these special options.
- Gratuities. A big portion of your service staff’s compensation comes from gratuities. The staff on any Disney Cruise Line ship is top notch and will do everything possible to make your vacation full of magical moments. You will want to factor in gratuities for your room host and dining room servers. Disney Cruise Line recommends that each member of your party tip $13.50 per night. There are other situations such as room service, bar tips and baggage Porters that you will also want to show appreciation to through gratuities. Trust me, these folks work extremely hard for you!
- Nursery Fees for Young Children. Children under the age of 3 may be left in the onboard nursery while you enjoy some much-need adult time. The nursery staff is well trained and ready to love on your little ones! There is a nominal hourly fee for nursery care. As a mother who has put two kids in the nursery over four cruises, this service is well worth it!
- Alcoholic and Specialty Beverages. Whether it be the drink of the day or a glass of wine, an adult or specialty non-alcoholic beverage is how many folks like to relax and enjoy vacation! While readily available, these are extra and not included in your voyage fare. Be sure to factor in some extra spending money for those fun fruity drinks! There is also a specialty coffee shop on board that you may want to enjoy.
- Onboard Experiences. There really is so much to see, do and experience when sailing with Mickey Mouse and Friends! While most experiences are inclusive there are some that I really like to indulge in that are not. These experiences include:
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique– this is a great place to get your princess or prince to have a special makeover. On Pirate Night you can also have them turned into a special swashbuckler!
- Wine and Alcohol Tasting– Want to learn from a Sommelier about wine or maybe learn how to pair the right drink with your food? Disney Cruise Line offers world class seminars just like these!
- Adult Exclusive Dining– Step away from the normal meals (which are amazing) and experience Palo and Remy (Dream and Fantasy only) to have even more amazing food! I love the brunch and dinner options, so do not be shy and go enjoy.
- Spa Treatments- Go relax and enjoy a special spa experience. A massage, pedicure, manicure, or maybe even the rain forest room. Lots of great options, so make sure to plan!
These are just a few of the ‘extras’ to plan for on your Disney Cruise Line vacation. There are many other options out there and our team can help you find the right Disney Cruise experiences for your family. So start working with our Travel Advisors today!
