Cruise Planning & Tips

As travel makes its’ triumphant return, and we patiently wait for cruising to return, I’ve been getting excited for all things Disney Cruise Line (DCL) thanks to the upcoming maiden voyage of The Wish.

We’ve gone over many of the amazing benefits of sailing on DCL, but there are so many little things that you may not know.  Starting with drinks!  Most of us know that you can enjoy all you want soda, tea, coffee and water throughout various locations on the ship.  And of course, there are bars and lounges aplenty.  But what else is there?

Tastings
Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of different tastings and different locations on board.  You can experience everything from a champagne tasting (which our team thoroughly enjoyed) to different spirits, beers and wine.  These can be booked ahead of time, or onboard subject to availability.

Drink of the Day
You can use your Navigator app to find out what the drink of the day is and decide whether it’s for you or not. There is an alcoholic and non-alcoholic signature beverage that changes each day.  This drink can be ordered at any bar or lounge, or from a server on the pool decks (yes, there are cast members available to take your drink orders for you).

Take Your Wine With You
Say you order a bottle of wine at dinner, but only drink half.  It won’t go to waste and you’ll be able to enjoy it throughout your cruise. Because of DCL’s rotational dining, you’ll have the same waitstaff with you for all of your dinner reservations.  They’ll get to know what you like at your meals, and even bring your bottle of wine with you to your next restaurant, so you can easily enjoy it and not waste any.

Cove Cafe
Say you’ve had a little too much of the above mentioned drinks and could really use a great cup of coffee.  The Cove Cafe is an adults only lounge that serves specialty coffee drinks as well (and has some snacks you can enjoy).  If you order a latte, be sure to check out what character the barista surprises you with (if you know, you know).

Bring Drinks With You
If you would like to save a little bit of money, each guest 21 and over can bring a maximum of 2 unopened bottles of wine or champagne, or 6 beers with them in their carry-on luggage. There is a corkage fee to enjoy your wine in one of the restaurants, but if you want to open your bottle yourself, just ask your stateroom host for a wine key and you are good to go!

CHEERS to a great vacation!!!
