Did you know that every year, Disney hosts 4 weekend run series with something for everyone? Yup, there are diaper dashes for the littlest “runners” all the way up to multi day challenges where you do a 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon! So why should you consider a RunDisney event?
It’s Really Well Organized
I recently ran the Princess Half Marathon and was so impressed with how this run was organized. There was clear signage everywhere, tons of amenities (BioFreeze on the course, cold sponges to cool off with, plenty of water and PowerAde, etc), lots of staff along the course and an easy to follow race course (no confusion about turns-we’ve all been there). I was able to find someone to help with any questions that came up and knew exactly what to expect. Bonus? The race started exactly when they said it would! That made my Type A heart sing!
The Pre-Race Expo
In addition to all of the great local and national companies on hand, there were so many race specific swag items that it was hard to choose! We were able to get some last minute race must haves that we forgot (socks and headbands, oops) and special gear only available that weekend! There were food and drinks available, fun photo opportunities and even characters to meet!
Running in a Costume
I’m not usually one to get into dressing up, but there was something about putting on a tutu in the morning prior to a 13.1 mile run that upped the fun factor significantly. Even if you don’t dress up, this race is the time for fun! Wear a shirt with a funny saying or silly socks. Embrace the moment and have some fun!
Bragging Rights
After the run everyone was walking all over the parks proudly wearing their medals. Getting and giving congratulations to fellow runners and hearing “congratulations, princess” from cast members made the moment even more special. I never wanted to take that medal off!
Race You to the Castle
Not every run goes through the castle, but you’re going to see some special things along the way. A back view of Disney, special character meet and greets and seeing the parks as the sun is rising are all special extras you wouldn’t get to enjoy without signing up to run. So lace up, start training and sign up for a RunDisney event. I’ll race you to the castle!
