We hear them all the time when people find out our passion is Disney Destinations….. Those objections to what, in many cases, is a seeming right of vacation passage! So I thought we would take a minute to debunk some of the common misconceptions about a Disney Destination vacation!

1)The cost is too high.

So this one is a maybe it is or maybe it is not. Again, I realize the cost might truly be too high for your family.  There was a time when it was too high for my family.  That is okay and not the circumstance I am referring to here. What I mean with this objection is that there are options and ways to cut costs at Disney.  For example, purchase tickets without the hopper option, stay at a Good Neighbor hotel to save on lodging, or maybe go off-season (which can help with #3 too).  This is a large part of my job – helping you find ways to make that dream vacation a reality while staying within your budget.  So if that initial quote we send you or you find on your own is too high, let us help you find ways to reduce that cost and get you on a Disney vacation.

2) Other Attractions are more appealing.

Other attractions can certainly be appealing and often times can be coupled with a Disney vacation. Did you know that we could create a Southern California vacation package through The Walt Disney Travel Company? Yep!  We can help you build the perfect vacation by picking and choosing which other attractions you would like to experience while in Southern California! Maybe you would like to experience Universal while in Orlando, again we can help you with tickets and transportation between the two theme parks.  Your vacation does not have to be just Disney.

And often times pairing up those trips helps make the vacation bucket list more affordable (see, bringing it back to #1!).

3) The lines are too long.

Yes, Disney parks have lines.  You know what else has lines?  National Parks, ski lifts, restaurants, the grocery store – I could go on, but my point is that lines are everywhere.

Again, a large part of my job is help you navigate the parks to avoid as many of those lines as possible. Are you worried about lines to meet characters?  We can schedule character meals to avoid them.  Fastpasses are a very important and strategic method to avoid lines, and we help our clients plan and secure those.  Disney has also added an interactive component to some of their lines to make the time go by faster.

Maybe you opt for a Disney cruise instead.  You can still have that Disney level of service without the stress of the parks. Better yet, you decide Adventures by Disney is for you because avoiding lines is what they do best!!!  There are options and ways to minimize those dreaded lines.

4) There is no variety.

Disney has a saying that I am hearing more and more from them lately.  If you haven’t been to Disney lately, you haven’t been to Disney.  Disney Parks are constantly changing, renewing, and re-imagining so just because you went 15, 10, or even 5 years ago does not mean you have experienced the Disney parks of today.

Between May 2017 and September 2019 Walt Disney World will have opened three entirely new lands -3! That means in just over two years 3 totally new lands have and will become a part of Walt Disney World—and that does not include other ride updates or new shows.

Disneyland in a little over a year re-imagined one land and will open Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.  Huge things are happening in the parks right now. You want to talk about new experiences? Rise of the Resistance, the second attraction in Galaxy’s Edge, will be the most technologically advanced attraction ever built within a theme park.  Wow!  Now how about variety.

At a Disney Park you can ride on the back of a banshee, fly high with Dumbo, Soar around the world, give Chewbacca a hug, and dance with Doc McStuffins all within Walt Disney World. Maybe you want to take a trip to Radiator Springs before helping the Guardians of the Galaxy escape or dine with princesses before piloting the Millennium Falcon – not a problem at Disneyland!  There is something for everyone in the Disney Parks.

Oh and the cruises—each ship is updated every five years! So even if you took a cruise each year on one of the four different ships you would rarely repeat the overall experience!

5) There is nothing for little boys.

This is a very common misconception.

I do not want to box boys and girls into the stereotypical images here, but I think what people mean when they say this is that the Disney is very princess heavy.  Yes, they do have a lot of princess attractions and meet and greets.  They also have superheroes, pirates, animals, dinosaurs, Star Wars, and Mickey.  There is a huge presence of Marvel characters at Disneyland.  They are even working on a Marvel themed land right now.  Have you heard about The Pirates League?  Your child can be made over into a pirate – pirate oath and all! There are many many options for children who are not into the princess part of Disney.

There you have it, the top five common objections I hear about Disney vacations.  I hope if you have one of these I have helped to put your mind at ease and at least give you some confidence to contact us and get some more information about all Disney destinations have to offer.
